Disaster Recovery

How good are your backups?

Most business have a data backup system. However:
Are you backing up the right data?
The only way to be certain that you are getting everything backed up properly is to do a complete backup (called an "image") of every disk drive in your company.  But doing so every day is time consuming and impractical.  We suggest well a designed data backup and recovery policy that protects all valuable data without being burdensome.

"I'm sorry, I was in a big hurry last night to get to my kid's ball game."
Murphy's Law makes sure this happen just when it hurts the most.  A backup system must be automatic to be effective.

What about data on individual PCs and laptops?
Proper policies and procedures can help prevent loss of data stored on PCs on your network.  But if your users have laptops, PDAs or other portable devices, they may have valuable data (i.e. contact information on an important client) that needs to be protected.

How about encrypted data?
"Power users" and programs like Exchange may encrypt data for security.  But if that data is important to the company , then what happens when Mr./Ms. Power User leaves the company?  We recommend a policy that will protect your intellectual property.

What if you delete an important file or crash a hard drive?
Often we can even recover your data even if you deleted a file, formatted a drive, or suffered catastrophic disk failure.
